WELL! Remember I said in my last post that I had some life altering news that was so huge it needed its own post? Here it is! ( and you will soon find out why I have been so absent as of late)
I AM OPENING MY VERY OWN BOUTIQUE/CHILDREN'S ART STUDIO.
If you were to ask me 5 years ago what my dream job would be, it would be one of these three things:
1) to be a children's book illustrator ( totally still attainable)
2) to be a voice actor...primarily doing recordings for the self-serve machines of a grocery store. "please remove your bags and thanks for shopping at...________"
3) to own a vinatge shop, but also incorporating other retail, and children somehow, and art, and cuteness.
After I received news that the current children's art studio I work at was closing b/c the owners are relocating out of the country, things just began to fall into place.
Tea With Gladys has been a vintage online store I have managed since 2006 ( first on ebay and now on Etsy), and I always knew I wanted to take it to another level. For those that don't know the story, TWG is named after my late grandmother Gladys, whom was always ready to tell stories from the past, usually shared over a cup of tea.
Now in 2013, I am opening up an actual storefront in downtown Oakville. It is an artisan's boutique ( lots of amazing handmade items from local artists, illustrators and designers) a vintage boutique, a children's art studio ( will be teaching and hosting workshops for young girls) and I will also be offering bithday "TEA" parties. Guests will get to create one of five projects, chit chat over cupakes and 'tea' ( pink lemonade) and leave with adorable loot and pictures from a photobooth I have set up in the studio.
It's been EXTREMELY busy as I have been setting up, buying , painting painting and more painting. I've added some sneak peek pics of the progress thus far. I've been doing a lot of thrifting for display tables/ ect. and have found some amazing items! So stay tuned to all my entreprenurial endeavors and check us out on
