SPRING= DRESSES
Oh my lan. I think we can finally say Spring is here. There is a minor blip on it's way...a chilly Tuesday with a potential for snow BUT every other day surrounding that 2 degree day is bird chirpingly wonderful!

Jadite, Pyrex and Lefton Oh My!
My first piece of vintage, glass dishware I purchased was a small Fire King, Jadite, Jane Ray cup and saucer. I saw it at an antique market one summer and thought...wow this is stunning. It brought me back to when I was 8 or 9 and I forced my mom to buy this mint green dinnerware set from the superstore that consisted of 6 plates and 6 giant bowls. I didn't know it at the time, but it was jadite repo...not even the fire king stuff that came back after Martha Stewart did her thang...just really cheap ( but really beautiful) jadite repo. Over the years, every piece broke except for a few bowls. ( did I mention how cheap they were?)
When I spotted that cup + saucer set and looked in to it a bit more, I knew at that moment I was hooked. I just wish I had started back when I first fell for it, as prices are getting higher all the time and pieces are becoming harder to find. But what 9 year old collects dishes?!
One afternoon while hunting for jadite at an antique store in Niagara on the Lake, I came across my first piece of pyrex. A little butterprint nesting bowl. It was $10 ( I was at a Antique store). The great thing about it was, butterprint was actually really easy to come by AND resonably priced.
So it begun...my collection pales in comparison to most avid Pyrex collectors, but I've set some limits for myself, because lets me honest, pyrex is a big space taker upper. My dream is to have a wall of turquoise and pink and white ( so I am tryng to stick to turquoise butterprint, Balloon, Gooseberry, White Daisy and Snowflake. However if I stumble across a promotional piece or a rare breed like cloverberry, you better believe I'll make room on my shelf!) and another wall of my mint jadite.
Oh and then there is my Lefton collection. THAT is probably my most fun to collect and I have spent almost nothing on it. I have been gifted some pieces from friends who are avid thrifters, I have also thrifted a lot because I KNOW for a fact that if a smiley, blue faced Miss Priss creamer came into the shop, they'd stick it with all the other cat figurines. I found my red rose cabbage condiment dish for $2.99 at Value Village. I also found my Puppy Pal jam jar ( with spoon) for $16 at a flea market. My little Dainty Miss shaker? $1.00 at a goodwill. ( found by that expert thrifter friend of mine) and the list continues...

Everything new!
It's been awhile since I last blogged, but let me tell you...running your own business/storefront all on your own is VERY TIME CONSUMING. Sometimes I see friends, sometimes I watch movies, sometimes I sit on the couch for 20 min...basically all I have is SOME TIME. Not a lot, only some. I am by no way complaining, because I love what I do. It just happens to be what I do 85% of the time.
Tea With Gladys is doing very well, hence the busy-ness. I have found time to train and race my 10th half marathon this September (with a pretty decent time of 1:46:33---average training!), I have illustrated, visted my parents once at the end of August, made Cotton Candy Halloween costume out of 3 bags of cotton balls, celebrated Penny's 2nd birthday, all whilst workin 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. Can you tell I like to be busy?!? Oh and I also chopped all my hair off. It was a long time coming--- Here are some snapshots of my ongoings + what not. Think of this as an illustration, outfit, DIY, everything under the sink kind of post.

Powder Blue, how are you?
So I've had a slight obsession with all things powder blue. When I came across this dress on etsy, it was in my cart and in my hands before I knew it. It fit perfectly and I have to stop the urge to wear it everyday.

1960's and counting
Hello!
Well in the last month business has been steadily growing and growing and Tea With Gladys is flourishing! I've had so much support and positive feedback it just makes me feel even stronger about my life decision to open up my own shop!
In further news I bought a new dress, a new Camera ( Happy Anniversary Canon!) and as you can see, I need a new tripod. After delicately placing my new cam on top of boxes and display items, I managed to snap these of my new dress. What you can't see is my inner soul shaking at the thought of my new Canon crashing down from my shoddy make shift heights.
The shoot didn't last too long to say the least.
BUT how adorable is this little number? It's from Exile Vintage...one of my fav online vintage shops. They seem to always have what I'm looking for!

Wallflower
I am in LOVE with this little shift dress from Dahlia!! It was my first time ordering from this amazing online boutique and I was extremely happy with everything. The dress is so well made and it is the perfect frock to add to my spring collection!
It has a litttle western influence, but I tried to make it as 60's pop as I could! I was just in THAT kind of mood.

I'm Red Dee!
SPRING IS HERE! You don't even know how many dresses I have stocked up for this nice weather. This little gem of a red dress is one of them! I've had this in my wardrobe for quite sometime, and finally the weather cooperated with my need for sleeveless dresses and minimal layers aka no layers. (unless I'm layering a sundress over a bathing suit)

Life has been...woah-ish.

Tea With Gladys-ing
I had a little photoshoot of my new store with a good friend, and super talented photographer Dani Lyn Ayee.
I've had this dress forever ( literally about 1 year) and have not worn it. When I was getting ready for the shoot, I literally removed the age old price tag. When I initially purchased it from H&M I had no occasion to wear it to. I just thought it was stunning and it was on sale! It reminded me of something my grandmother would have worn, so how fitting was is it that I wore it in these first photos of my shop:)
Do any of you have a piece in your wardrobe that was purchased with someone else in mind?
